Introduction

Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment, Govt. of India, has initiated in 107 Districts, District Centre for Rehabilitation of Persons with Disabilities in various parts of the Country. In Sikkim State, DCRPD-GANGTOK (East Sikkim) is one among them. Ali Yavar Jung National Institute for the Hearing Handicapped, Mumbai-50, has been entrusted, by Ministry of Social Justice & Empowerment, Govt. of India, to initiate such centre at Gangtok in Sikkim, in collaboration with Social Welfare Dept., & Health Dept., of State Govt. of Sikkim.
