ACTIVITIES OF THE SPASTICS SOCIETY
2007-2008
The National Programme for Prevention and Control of
Deafness (NPPCD) Project was undertaken by Spastic Society of Sikkim under the
sponsorship of Rehabilitation Council of India from the month of March 2007. The
ENT Specialist of the
A Diploma Course for Community Based Caregivers Training under the National
Trust of India is under way with 8 trainees.
Renovation and architectural modification of
SERC to enable Spastic Society of Sikkim to instituite institutional care(
Respite home) under Project Samarth has been taken up by Rural Management and
Development Department at a cost of Rs. 5,52,000/- from Oct 2007.
The Special Children of SERC participated in Athletic Meet at Gaurds Ground and
TNA Ground.
Master Nirmal Chandra Dahal, Special Child of SERC lifted a Gold Medal in Soft
Ball Throw during World Summer Game 2007 held during 2nd-10th Oct 07,Shangai,
China.
World
Disabled Day was celebrated in Janta Bhawan on 3rd December 07 where all the
Children of SERC, Parents and Members and Guests were present. Cultural
programme by the staffs and Special children were presented. His Excellency The
Governor of Sikkim was the Chief Guest of the Day. On this occasion Governor
felicitated Mr Nirmal Chandra Dahal, for his performance in
Training to the AWW/ASHS/TBAS and Primary teachers were started from Jan 08 and
was completed by 31st March 08. 27 batches of AWW/ASHS/TBAs and 20 batches of
Primary teachers were trained under National Programme for Prevention and
Control of Deafness.
Spastic Society of Sikkim organized three days Disability Equity Training
Programme sponsored by National Trust of India from 9th
April to 11th April 08 at Police HeadQuarter,Gangtok.
