There are seven other notified towns beside Gangtok town - Mangan in the North District, Jorethang and Namchi in South district, Gyalshing and Nayabazaar in the West District and Rangpo and Singtam in the East district. According to 1991 census the total population in the respective towns are: Mangan - 803, Jorethang - 1939, Namchi - 630, Gyalshing - 717, Nayabazaar - 1045, Rangpo - 2980 and Singtam - 3868.
